Persephone's Garden -- Cultivating Healing through Body Work

Welcome to the Garden

Sally Peters

While Sally was still a teenager, she took great joy in doing back and shoulder rubs for friends. She seemed to be able to "see" what was needed for the muscles. This practice continued throughout her nursing career.

Just out of high school, Sally was bitten by the alluring bug of the medical arts. There is much to feed the brain in this world. She started as a nursing assistant in a Byzantine Catholic Nursing Home, which gave really good care as well as feeding the spirit of its patients. Eventually working as a nurse at the University of Minnesota Hospital, years of the rigors in this life took it's toll on her body and soul; and while nursing gave an opportunity to help, it wasn't really healing.

Starting with Swedish Massage, and moving into the Japanese art called Anma for deep work, Sally soon discovered Craniosacral Therapy in a bodywork exchange. Although it was quite gentle and subtle, the short treatment still was effective. This began a long relationship with the Upledger Institute. All of the different techniques were a great help in the partnership of healing.

The journey into these healing arts brings with it healing, for to be a good practitioner, one needs to receive work as well as give it. What is brilliant about healing, is the gift of insight into ourselves we find on the journey.
